Roasted plum, hazelnut and orange tart
Don't judge this guy by the way he looks. While he's not winning any prizes in the looks department, the gooey, fudgy, roasted plum and caramel will win you over.
Roasting stone fruit into a tart like this, the flavour intensifies and juices spill out and into the tart. Eating this cake you find gooey deposits of concentrated roasted plum, nestled amongst a nutty, buttery cake. With just a hint of orange and using ground hazelnuts as its base, this is a flavour combo you'll just keep coming back to.
The mix itself comes together in a matter of minutes, though it does take an hour or so for the tart to cook down and really caramelise; whip this together and throw it into the oven as dinner is finished, and you'll have dessert ready just as you feel like you've got room for it.
If you cant find ground hazelnuts you can make your own using a spice mill or coffee grinder - just do it in small batches so as not to burn out the motor! Ground almonds work just as well too (and are easier to find!)
